Assmannshausen

Assmannshausen

Assmanshausen is a small, picturesque town situated in the most romantic corner of the Rhine river, in the utmost northwest point from the state of Hesse.

The 75-hectare wine-growing community has the largest connected area of pinot- noir vineyards. The red-wine tradition in Assmannshausen goes back to its foundation in 1108. The Red Assmanshauser wine is very famous because the vines grow directly in the steep hills covered by the sun; they also grow on an enriched slated ground that ensures these very special racy wines. Besides its high-quality red wines, Assmanshausen also possesses a warm thermal spring rich in lithium, which was well known as a natural health spa until the end of the war. This place is today a preferred vacation resort for the Rhine visitors from all over the world, and has excellent hotels and pensions to stay in. Nature lovers and hikers feel like at home as well as people with high culinary demands. Cosy wine taverns, friendly service in comfortable restaurants and romantic summer terraces offer, besides the Assmannshaeuser Spaetburgunder wine, the ideal place to spend a wonderful time.
