Hallgarten

Hallgarten

Hallgarten is located at the edge of the Taunus mountains at the feet of the Hallgartaner Zange, a 600-meter-high elevation, somewhat away from the Rhine shore and surrounded by the colourful vineyards. This town is 750 years old. Its location with the river valley on one side and the high woods on the other side plus the cultural landscape of the vineyard slopes make this place very attractive for visitors. Old aristocratic villas and winegrowers'cooperatives are evidence of the traditional wine history,as well as the former housekeeping court from the cistercian monastery of Eberbach, nowadays a winery. Lovely restored medieval half-timbered houses influence the general picture; the small parrish church with its Madonna feature is worth to be seen.
